Imagine if you were a business, stay with me here, and almost every aspect of YOU represented a key area of that business. How effective is your Marketing Department? What is the long-term projection from your Finance Department? Do your actions match your company’s Mission Statement? Is your Human Resources Department filled with complaints? In the next few posts I will examine this further but for now, consider the following tips for business success and apply them to your own life:
- Return every call every day- often we delay returning phone calls for so long that we forget to return them, out of courtesy we should at least allocate 15 minutes for the call, let the person know that you are pressed for time and will call again soon when you have more time.
- Excel at answering objections - I translate this to arguments or confrontations with the people we care about; focus on listening rather than being understood. It is far better to resolve the situation than to “win.”
- Be persistent & enthusiastic about your goals - to some extent this one is self-explanatory but as a gentle reminder, you should always feel good about what you are trying to achieve and do something everyday to that end.
- Create and maintain a professional image - it is easy to attribute this to outer appearance but my focus here is the impression you leave with people, if you feel like people always get the wrong impression of you, you may have to adjust a few things. If you talk too much, you may want to focus more on listening. If you only have negative things to say perhaps you might want to examine how to improve you r perspective on life etc…
- Tomorrow begins at zero - it took me a bit of time to really understand the value of this tip, my interpretation is that each new day should begin with a renewed effort to achieve your goals, everything you did the day before is great but you must maintain a productive momentum to stay on track . Beginning the day at zero asks you to push for greatness again and again.
{YOU} Inc., is an important facet of SHE SHOULD KNOW™, I look forward to your feedback and involvement.
